Kamerkloof is ideally located near a few very well-known 4X4 trails in the Baviaanskloof. Kamerkloof highly recommends these 4X4 trails which are also well known within the 4x4 community. The start of these recommended trails are a fifteen minute drive from Kamerkloof:
Doringkloof 4x4 Trails
Doringkloof offers five different 4x4 trails in the Baviaanskloof and Kouga mountains. The best known of these is probably the Kouga Mountains route between the Langkloof near Kareedouw to the Rus en Vrede Farm of the Lamprechts in the Baviaanskloof. The longest trail, about 78 kilometres in length and has a grading of 2, winds its way from the Baviaanskloof valley right up the Kouga mountain range, past Graskop to the summit and then down to Kareedouw in the Langkloof. En route one will see a rich variety of vegetation including cycads that are hundreds of years old. Much of the scenery is simply breath-taking. Although not a particularly difficult 4x4 trail, some parts are sufficiently demanding to make it interesting. Three other trails, ranging from 5-10 kilometres, also climb up the Kouga range and back. The difficulty rating is 2-4. The other trail, Bosrug, approximately 8kms in length, goes up the Baviaanskloof Mountains towards Steytlerville. On this trail, which is not for the faint hearted, you will experience breath-taking views. This route is a return route. There is no need to book, however please inform Chris or Barend at Rus-en-Vrede.
